Mission

Wisconsin Christian Horsemen has been developing since the winter of 2018 when a group of like minded horse people from Central Wisconsin got together and asked “ what if ?” What would happen if we combined our love of horses with our love for Jesus? 

 

What came out of those discussions was a day camp where around 15 volunteers met every Thursday night throughout the summer to teach horsemanship to youths with an emphasis on obstacle course training and trail preparedness. We were sponsored by Fellowship of Christian Athletes and we were known as FCA Horse Camp

 

The camp, near Merrill Wi. ran from 2018- 2020. It achieved a maximum of 33 youth participants who were coached by 15 outstanding volunteers.  Area Christian leaders, FCA staff and interns were recruited to teach the Gospel message campfire style. 

 

During the winter of 2021 those same like minded horse people asked “ what if” again. What if we designed an equine based program that could be used to spread the Gospel to people of all ages?

 

FCA Horse camp evolved into FCA Trail Ride Weekend. Our first organized ride was held at the Langlade County Crocker Hills Horse Trail. The weekend featured 3 different trail rides, live music both Friday and Saturday evenings, and live music during the worship service Sunday morning. The Gospel was preached every night, excellent meals were part of the weekend, hay wagon rides, ice cream and lawn games were a hit with non riders. 

 

During the winter of 2022 that same group of riders met again and asked “ what if ?” What if there was a stand alone organization that would promote events that were equine based, family friendly and promoted the Gospel of Jesus Christ?  The Wisconsin Christian Horseman organization was born.
